I am blocked from Norton Server

I was on the phone with norton help for an hour and a half today and at the end they said i needed to pay them $99 to fix my computer. I dont have the money so i am coming here for help. I cannot access the norton server via a browser or by Live Update thru Norton Internet Security. the norton tech said i have been infected by hacker software which allows them to access my personal information and blocks all access to any of the most popular anti virus software websites. they led me to download the newest version with the latest virus definitions and while it has removed over 10 high risk infections on my computer, i still have no access to the norton server which means it is still there. I am not sure which direction i should go next so I am here to get any help i can. I have read a lot of reports that HijackThis is a good program to get but i cannot decipher anything that comes out of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: I am blocked from Norton Server

In order to unblock the server module of the program in the Norton Internet Security firewall , you should check out your ports 80 and 443 respectively. If the one you chose is not available, i.e. used by another service, it is suppose to switch to using port 9675. You may want to test by opening 80, 443, & 9675. If that works, close one at a time to narrow it down. You may have to open Port 135 for RPC, and change the access for the following executable files in the Program Rules to Allow all communications:
    C:\Windows\System32\wbem\unsecapp.exe
    C:\Windows\System32\WUDPhost.exe
    C:\Program Files\hyper-v\vmconnect.exe

Re: I am blocked from Norton Server

you lost me. But i can tell you that i dont think this is the problem.. like i said based on the files that were being quarantined by the update to norton internet security 2010 and norton sonar the Norton tech assured me that this is the case of a hacker virus being stuck somewhere in my registry. i still cannot seem to access any of the norton sites for updates or updated virus definitions or even access the majority of popular antivirus/malware sites for updated definitions. i can however access normal websites such as facebook and hotmail. i downloaded hijackthis today and ran a report which i will post for anyone to look at and give insight to.
    thanks very much.
