Can i block a friend on Facebook chat

Hi, i need some urgent help from you all guys.. I have an ID on Facebook and i use to chat more often on Facebook .

Now i have a long list of friends on this messenger out of which i need to block some friends due to some reason so that either they can not see me online or they won't able to chat me on Facebook. So i wanted to know is there any way i can block friend on Facebook chat ? If yes, please let me know how. Thanks for your kindness.

Yeah off course you can block your unwanted friend to chat you on Facebook. You can do that by putting them on a Friend List, and then choosing to go offline to that Friend List.If you would prefer that this friend no longer be able to contact you on Facebook, you can also block them by typing their name in the Block List search field at the bottom of the Privacy Settings page. For doing so, select Settings and choose Privacy Settings. Type in the person’s name you want to block from contacting you. Thats iT !!

You can also select to appear offline to specific Friend Lists within Chat. So that even you come online they won't be able to see you. For doing this you need to simply select the "Go Offline" toggle next to the top of each Friend List you would like to appear offline to. You will no longer appear as available to chat to people on these lists. You are done.

As per me the only way of doing that, that I know of, is going offline. Maybe you want to be online with your best friends but offline with your work colleagues. You can now do that by using Friend Lists to filter your connections in Chat.To appear offline to everyone:

• Click on "Chat" in the bottom toolbar.
• Choose "Options."
• Select "Go offline" at the top of the list.

You need to be clear whether you want to block yourself or any of your friends in your friend list on facebook? You can go into the privacy settings of facebook and change the settings accordingly, so that you wont be able to be searched by anyone from facebook.
