    Re: How to Stop Automatic Redirect

    These are two easy ways to apply
    1) Start Regedit (Start menu, Run and type regedit) Goto Following Key
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ VXD \ MSTCP Change the value chain DefaultTTL to 128.

    2) Start regedit Goto Following Key
    Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSet / Services / Dnscache / Parameters

    Create the following DWORD key and give them the value indicated below in hexadecimal:
    CacheHashTableBucketSize = 00000001
    CacheHashTableSize = 00000180
    MaxCacheEntryTtlLimit = 0000fa00
    MaxSOACacheEntryTtlLimit = 0000012d

    For Internet Explorer Goto Tools -> Options -> Advanced tab / General and uncheck the "Prevent when websites try to redirect or reload the page? If this is not what I do not know.

    For FireFox 3 , Follow These Steps
    • Open your Firefox 3 Browser
    • Then Click on Tools. after that Click on Options button.
    • Next Click on Advanced tab. then Click on sub tab called General.
    • Select the checkbox which says ” Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page”.
    • Click on Ok.

    Re: How to Stop Automatic Redirect

    Hello I also have had some problems from redirects. It appeared I picked up some malware. I run windows 7 and here is what I did to fix the problem. Go into your c: windows folder and migrate to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and delete that folder. If you picked up what I did it contains the host name table which in my case sent me to 212.117.178.25 for google and 212.117.163.43 for yahoo, instead of the real google and yahoo IPs. It took me some time to figure it out even though I am a Net Engineer/Admin. In my defense I am a Cisco guy not windows. Hope this helps someone.

    Well, I'm using Internet Explorer 8, and I don't see a "General" or "Prevent when websites try to redirect or reload the page" checkbox. What should I do?

    UPDATE: Wait, never mind. And I can't delete this post. Sorry.

    Hello first start your system on the safemode. Once you start the system on safe mode and after that attempt to perform Internet Explorer Optimization. Try to Configuration settings in Windows Internet Explorer 8. For more you can go through the below link:

    Re: How to Stop Automatic Redirect

    THANK YOU TRIO. Hours I have searched for a solution to redirects, reading many forums. On my last computer I paid someone to fix it. I watched him do it, so I knew when I read your post that it involved registry changes (scary for computer semi-illiterate types like me).

    My computer did it from the first time I booted it up (brand new). It amazes me that Microsoft, Google or more must be in on it or tolerant of it.

    Thanks again!!!
