Every body come across many domain extensions while surfing like .org, .com, .net , etc.. What is the difference between these extensions and which is the most popular domain extension in the world ?

Difference is not huge in the domain extensions. They just differs in the matter of your identity in cyberspace. For example, .net is an open TLD and any person or entity is permitted to register. Where .gov is limited to U.S. governmental entities and agencies. And .ee is only available for Estonia registered brands and companies. But over all of these extension .com is the most popular one because it is around for a long time and net surfers are more likely to type .com in front of your domain name, if they do not remember your extension.

.com is the undisputed TLD, as every person online knows. If you have any other domain like .info you will have to emphasize to other that it is not .com but something else. With .com it is usually implied and taken for granted.
