PowerBoost is a patented-pending Comcast network technology that enables you to experience faster connection speeds while you are downloading and uploading large files to the Internet. This technology is compatible with DOCSIS 1.1 cable modems and above. DOCSIS 1.1 cable modems have been in mass-production for the last four years. PowerBoost is also compatible with Comcast certified home networking devices and Comcast voice eMTAs (combination modem and phone adapter with battery back-up).
PowerBoost is FREE to all residential, Comcast High-Speed Internet subscribers. A PowerBoost burst will normally last as long as the 10MB of a file download on Comcast's 6Mbps High-Speed Internet service, and as long as 5MB of a file upload. If you have a older modem, you can get it replaced by new one without charge. Just visit your local Comcast office.
You should notice an increase in speed when you are downloading and uploading large files such as software, games, music, and photos. Test your connection speed at various speed test websites such as www.speedtest.net. You think you are not receiving comcast powerboost, then just your modem by unplugging it for 60 seconds and plugging it back into an electrical outlet.
