How to increase wireless connection speed

Hi,
I have wireless internet connection at my home. There are many fluctuations in speed of uploading and downloading data. Can someone tell me how to increase the connection speed and make it constant? I have windows XP installed on my computer.

Any help will be appreciated.

First test your connection speed on www.speedtest.net. You can also compare speeds with other users with different IPs. If you still feel that you have slow connection, then there must be something wrong at your ISP's end. Check for the obstacles within the wireless interface. If possible, move metal objects or change the placement of the wireless equipment that may cause interference.
