blush Work Offline mode in Chrome ?

Where is the offline mode in Google Chrome like that's seen on Firefox, IE, Opera ?

I'm unable to find that feature.I'm not talking about Google Gears.

    Is that feature absent ?

To begin, you'll need to install Google Gears and restart your browser. From then on, whenever you visit Google Reader, simply click the green online icon next to the Settings link in the upper right of the page to download the most recent articles. Synchronization should be quick; once it's done, you’re free to disconnect from the Internet.

At this point, the status icon will change to to indicate that you’re offline. While you’re offline, you can close your Reader window and re-open it later to pick up where you left off.

Note that some features (like adding new subscriptions) won’t work, and images and videos won’t be downloaded, while you’re offline. However, every article you read offline will be marked as read, and any tags you've applied will also be saved, for when you go back online.

When you’re back online, simply click the icon to enable all the online features again and synchronize any changes with the online version.

Techguru01 : I had already mentioned that I'm not at all interested in Google Gears.

I just want Chrome not to connect to the Internet when I'm reading any HTML files from the HDD since I'm having an always ON connection.

Chrome works in offline mode based on Google Gears technology. This mode eases you to proceed with work on supported web sites even if Internet connection is not present. In reality in this mode browser works like operating system running application and providing a disk space for it. Now, with offline mode in Chrome your productivity is not bound to permanent Internet connection, you can take a part of the Web where you want. Google Gears is a requirement for offline mode and it's not available for Chrome which is pathetic.Go with Firefox.

Actually, Gears are built into Chrome and the plugin doesn't need to be downloaded separately.

One idea would be to use a blackhole proxy on one chrome profile and none on the other.

It takes a little work setting up but its not hard once you get the hang of it.

See this thread (the 3rd post) on how to run multiple chrome profiles at once.

Add -enable-udd-profiles to the target of a Chrome shortcut.
    Reopen Chrome and press Ctrl+M.

    Hope this helps.

Recently, I also installed linux on my system and found out that and I am using the beta of Google chrome browser and to my surprise, there's no offline mode option in it? But I have heard that we can save the page, as google want to design a simplest browser it may not add the offline funtion.
