Some ActiveX controls are legitimate pieces of software that are necessary for a web page to function correctly. This message depends upon what in the page, some pages requires them in order to be viewed properly. You can disable it easily by adapting the Security Settings in your browser. To do so, just go through this simple steps:-

    • In Internet Explorer select Tools and click Internet Options

    • Now go to Security than Local Intranet and click Custom Level

    • Under the Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins select enable

Running unknown ActiveX controls and plug ins is potentially unsafe and could cause intruders to plant malicious programs in seemingly benign web sites and lead you to their sites and have you run them unknowingly. You can either disable it from Registry as well. See this:-

    • Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.

    • Locate the following folder:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0
    • In the right pane, right-click 1200, and then click Modify. In the Value data box, type0 to overwrite the existing value of 3.

    • Click OK and quit Registry Editor.

It comes down to an issue of trust. In Internet Options; Security tab, click the "Custom" button and see what settings you have that are causing the prompt.Change from custom level to default and that should do it.As a good compromise between user friendliness and security, I recommend to check the following settings under ActiveX controls and plug-ins. To block out ActiveX completely, refer to this link : How to block out activex controls

thanks for the info, but the pop up is not an advertisement. It is a warning about Active X. Not all users are getting it, but the ones that do seem to get it all day and even when they are not using Internet Explorer.
