Fix my ping in counter strike

I have a problem with ping on counter strike. The problem is that when i try to play counter strike 1.6 but it keeps kicking me out of the games because it said my ping was too high. I don't understand why i'm having such problem while playing counter strike. So, can any body tell me that how do i fix my ping in counter strike? Does any body have any idea about it? Kindly provide me the correct solution for the above issue. Any kind of help on the above issue would be appreciated.

I have the same issue and to get rid of this issue you need try to close down as many applications that may be running in the background that you can and try to find a server that is hosted close to your location using the server filter.

I think ping is just the time it takes your computer to connect to their computer. For that you need to check your rates and cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate. Try to set the following configuration on your pc.

set your rate to : 99999
cl_cmdrate : 30
cl_updaterate : 30

I think you need to reinstall your counter strike on your system. This might not fix the ping, but check that you have good graphics and video cards, that should reduce lag and therefore it might reduce the ping problem on your system.
