I'm using Ie 8.0.6001.18702 but Google's the problem. Google won't provide query suggestions in the search box even tho I've checked that under Preferences. It does it for Images but not Web search! Any ideas here?

you might consider trying bookmarking this URL that should work without Google Suggest.
http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=0
you will have to set the google as your default search engine. to do that open Internet Explorer- Tools - select Internet Options. now Under Search (Change Search Defaults) > Select Settings. In "Manage Add-ons" window , At the buttom of the page click "Find More Search providers". Go to Google Google Search Suggestions and Click Add to Internet Explorer, Add Seach Provider popup message will appear, Make sure to check "use seach suggestion from this provider", Click Add, Make sure in the "Manage Add-ons" that google is "set to default".
Hey even I am facing the same problem with Google Search suggestion with my system ever since I have upgraded to toolbar 6 beta.
Below is my original reply. After a boot, Google performs nicely. Thanks!
Well, I did everything you said. Google wasn't there but is now. All settings correct and ... nada. No change. No suggestions. I noticed that the search engine address and suggestions address are different. Suggestions reside at cleint5.google.com but it's probably right and can't be changed.
Thanks for help but my system not cooperating. I've not installed any toolbars, etc.

In order to disable search suggestions, you need to follow the below steps:
1. Firts of all you need to click on Preferences next to the search box.
2. Then on the 'Query suggestions' section, you need to select select 'Do not provide query suggestions'
3. And finally you need to save your settings. Taht's it and your job is done.
Search-engine address and suggestion address are not altogether different, they are inter-related. Search-engine address is the one which you initially put to search on the search-bar and the suggestion address is the one that appears by your web-browser (based on the initial keywords you've put in the search-bar) as a list of search suggestions sorted by a decreasing order of relevancy.
To use search suggestions, start typing in the Search Bar, and wait a moment when you want the search suggestions to appear.
Thanks for all the help. Got it working now.
