    "Copy Plain Text" Firefox Add-on

Have you ever copied something to Thunderbird or Office and been annoyed that the text formatting came with it?Now there is a solution if you are using Firefox, "Copy Plain Text". This Firefox add-on allows you to copy text from a website without bringing along that site's formatting. No more having to copy the text, then paste it into notepad, and copy it all over again. With the Firefox Copy Plain Text extension you get exactly what you wanted in the first place just the frigging text.

This extension gives you an option to copy text without the formatting. You can even set it to trim extra space in and around the copied text. The add-on operates through your context menu. We highlighted text on a Web page, including pictures and headlines, right-clicked, and selected the copy as the plain text option. When we pasted it into a MS Word document, the plain text appeared.

To copy text without formatting, just highlight the text you want to copy followed by right click on the highlighted area, then choose Copy as Plain Text from the context menu. You can paste the text you have copied to any document without worrying about the format from being carried along.

The options menu lets you format the copied text, including trimming space around the text, and removing extra spaces and lines. On top of, Plain Text provides few options to copy text, such as trim space around text, remove extra spaces and remove extra empty lines. You can choose from any one or combination of the above options which suite your need best.

I am aware of this addon. Its really interesting and useful. Once we tried it by highlighting text on a Web page, including pictures and headlines, right-clicked, and selected the copy as the plain text option. When we pasted it into a MS Word document, the plain text appeared.

Its really nice. I installed it last week and found it very useful when we need to copy paste any text to Office word. If you frequently copy plain text from web pages, you can even set copy plain text as your default copy action, either CTRL + C or choose Copy from Edit menu will copy the highlighted text without the formatting being carried forward.
