Hide or Remove Gmail Spam Counter

i would like to know how i can hide the SPAM folder counter. That folder increases its count very vastly i think its more than my real email.and its irritating please help me to do so thank you.

Create a new filter in Gmail webmail interface by clicking on Create a filter link. Then fill in is:spam in “Has the words:” field. > click on Next > If you receive a warning saying filters searches containing “label:”, “in:” or “is:” criteria are not recommended, click on OK to continue to next .In the Options page, tick the Delete it check box, and also check the Also apply filter
