FireFox CSS vs IE CSS

I want to know what is the difference between the CSS tag in Firefox and the CSS tag in Internet Explorer. basically I want to understand the behaviour of the css tag in these two web browsers.....

When I used the css (cascading style sheet) tag in both Internet Explorer and FireFox, it's strange to observe that the css tag behaves differently in both the internet browsers. I noticed that Internet Explorer does not support the PNG transparency

I am using Firefox 1.5. With my web browser, when I used CSS tag it worked fine. But however, when I converted the HTML document to XML document via XSL stylesheet, it doesn't support CSS.
