Change Firefox user agent on iPhone

I am using Safari browser in my iPhone to access the web. I heard somewhere that useragent allows web server to respond separately to different system or apply different behavior and features to different browser. So how can i use Firefox web browser as if it’s the Safari browser inside the iPhone ? Please help

Here are simple instructions on how to change the default user agent of your web browser such that it emulates Apple iPhone.

    • Install the User Agent extension for Firefox.
    • Restart Firefox.
    • Go to Tools -> User Agent Switcher and add a new user agent using the settings below:
      • Description: Apple iPhone
      • User Agent: Mobile Safari 1.1.3 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en)
      • App Name: AppleWebKit/420+ (KHTML, like Gecko)
      • App Version: Version/3.0
      • Platform: Mobile/1A543a Safari/419.3

    • Now switch the user agent to iPhone and most websites would render their mobile or iPhone specific layouts to your browser.

You can try this as well to do the same without any download:-Open up Firefox browser and in the adderss bar, type the following: about:config. You will see lots of preference names and their respective value. Search for "general.useragent.extra.firefox” by scrolling alphabetically or using filter.Right click and select Modify or double click on it. In the Enter string value dialog box, type in the user agent string that you want to simulate, such as “Googlebot 2.1″ to surf as Google spider bot. To change back to the default user agent, simply right click on the line and select Reset.

To fake iPhone’s Safari using Safari in Windows or Mac OS X, run Safari, click on Edit -> Preference, then go to Advanced tab. Check the checkbox for Show Develop menu in menu bar option. Exit from the Preference dialog window, a new “Develop” menu will show in the menu bar. Click on Develop, and then select User Agent in the pull down menu. Click to select Mobile Safari 1.1.3 - iPhone. Now the both Firefox and Safari browsers is surfing the web by telling everybody that you’re indeed using an iPhone to connect to Internet.
