Problem in sending .exe file from yahoo IM

Hi.. I am using Yahoo messenger 8 as my default Instant messenger. I faced a problem when i tried to send a set up file to a friend on IM. Yahoo messenger was not sending this file which is in . exe format. why is that so ? Please help what i can i do to send this file from yahoo Im ?

The problem is because Yahoo messenger has blocked sending . exe format. Reason, you might knowing that Virus files are also in extension “.exe”. Buut as i tried in Yahoo messenger 9, its working . I can send .exe files to any one right in my instant messenger.

So what you can do is, either send the file through mail or download latest Yahoo messenger and than try sending such kind of formats.

Nice tip friends. But i also have the same problem but this time its Hotmail. I am using hotmail and have the same problem. So what can i do for sending .exe formats.. Please help.

Well in Hotmail, you can send .exe formats by renaming the extension. To do so, just go to My Computer > Tools > Folder Option > View > Hide extension for known file Types > Apply > OK.

Thats it. Once you renamed the extension, You can easily send the file right from your Instant Messengers. This tip is applicable for all messengers, like yahoo, live messengers or hotmail.
