Thts a Fixed Wireless Telephone. Well MTNL has supplied me with a FWT made by Huawei, China. All things being equal I am not able to install the TIUMB software which comes on CD The message I get is I keep getting repeat messages that TIUMB could not be installed as the inf file was not correct TUSB3410 Boot Device not installed correctly namely it says " a service installation section in this inf is invalid",
There is a XP inf file which is as follows:-

Huawei 153 kbps Chinese modem

Well the FWT above has a built in dial up modem which connects from a 9 pin D connector to a PC USB port. All things went fine. Well the darned thing is that it connects to COM 3 whereas I have only Com 1 n 2. So when I run the diagnostics it says "the modem failed 2 respond make sure it is properly connected or turned on.If connected verify the interrupt for the port is properly set" So who does it connect to Chairman Mao? n how do make the TIUMP USB Serial Port (Com 3) go to com 1 or 2?

Com1 and Com2 are always allocated to your Serial Ports.
Devices on other ports like USB devices and sometimes even Internal Modems, create their own additional ports - Com3 , Com4, etc.

If the modem fails to respond, its most probably possible your modem may need certain other Initialisation strings.

Also the Internal Modem in a FWT tends to operate in a different manner from a regular dial-up modem. They work in a similar fashion to Reliance/Tata FWTs.

First and foremost you'd need to confirm whether your operator - Garuda does indeed offer internet service through your FWT or else using it would be futile. Next you'd need the according configuration as per initialisation strings for the modem, the number to be dialled etc. Contact your operator and confirm whether they do offer this service.

Thats exactly the same number Reliance FWTs use, guess they indeed all operate the same way
#777 isnt your regular "dial-up" number in the sense it wont be as your 172226(VSNL) or 172306(Satyam) , its more of the number used to activate the internal modem in your FWT. Guess all FWTs are programmed to activate the Internal modem using the #777 code.

Thanks Eddy but now my question is how do I activate my dialup as I have an account with ex ETH now Tata indicom plus Mtnl n have 2 dialup 172226. Besides any info on any FWT compatible fax programs? By the way when I use #777 the screen says verifying username n password n then kaput. It says "the remote computer did not respond" A call 2 Tata Indicom got a moronic response "sorry sir the dialup connection is only for landline connection"

I need a bit of clarification from you at this point. Do you use an FWT(Fixed Wireless Terminal) or a FWP(Fixed Wireless Phone)?

If its a FWP, they are right in saying you cannot access your dial-up connection.
- Your FWP's internal modem does not work like a regular dial-up modem. So it will not be a substitute for your 56K dial-up modem.
- Your FWP can still access your ISP's dial-up number. However your FWP being wireless doesnt have a "telephone jack" as such. Hence its not possible for you to connect your modem to your FWP line.

Owing to the above two its not possible to use a dial-up connection on your FWP.

However if you have an FWT, all you would need is to connect your 56K modem to the telephone jack on the Fixed Wireless Terminal and off you go.

Fwp ya Fwt

U will rofl if I tell u that what the MTNL supplies is the FWP but chooses 2 call it FWT LOL Cant blame the baboos as the same is mentioned in the manual. Well thats Confusion logic 4 u.
Anyway I've kicked up hell of a ruckus with MTNL by calling them cheats etc and the net results r that the GM Garuda has been detailed 2 sort out my problem.
In case things fail I am thinking of switching my Reliance Fwp 2 a FWT so ur suggestion 2 link up a dlink 56kbps modem on one inlet will work? N btw the modem 2 has a line in n out so is it feasible 2 have 2 phones with one phone and a modem in tandem? or will b like 2 weddings n a funeral? lol
