    Solution to the Back button problem for IE and above.

    1. Get rid of the cache

      Response.CacheControl = "no-cache";
      Response.AddHeader("Pragma", "no-cache");

    2. set SmartNavigation = true

    I was having the same problem with this site and it was driving me mad.

    I tried getting rid of temporary internet files and cookies. I also downloaded the latest anti spyware utility from microsoft as well as updating my definition on lavasoft ad-aware.

    All to no avail. I did a search on google for 'ad.uk.doubleclick.net' as I kept seeing this when attempting to get back to a previous page.

    I looked at some instructions for adding a whole range of spyware to the windows host file to prevent spyware from working.

    After re-booting my computer the site still didn't work properly.

    I then read Spectre's thread about the need to for advertising to help fund the site.

    I then re-altered the host file and took everything out of it apart from the very first line. I figured rather than stopping the ad.uk.doubleclick.net, the site might require it to work properly

    The site now works great.

    The instructions to do this are:

    go to c:windows\system32\drivers\etc

    and open the file called HOSTS using notepad

    cut everything below the line:

    # localhost: Needs to stay like this to work
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    and paste it into another notepad file. Save this file in case it all goes wrong and you need to put it back

    save the original 'slimmed' down HOST file.

    Re-boot your computer and the site should now work properly with all the adverts displayed correctly (these didn't work before I altered the file).

    PS this worked for me if it does something unexpected for you then just paste the missing lines back from the saved notepad file and save the HOST file back to it's original configuration to undo the fix if it doesn't work for you.

    It would also be a good idea to have an up to date spyware program and also anti-virus software.

    Have you installed any anti-virus application or security suite in your pc? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)? Are all of these applications (and versions) supported in Win7? If you use the drop-down arrow to the right of the Back/Forward buttons to navigate back to the second previous page, does that work?
