    How to enable Offline Gmail

As you all might be aware Google has launched a new Labs feature – Offline Gmail. I am frequent user of Gmail.

Could any one of you can make me know what setting we have to do to enable offline Gmail?

Re: How to enable Offline Gmail

It uses Google’s Gears technology to download a local cache of your Gmail folders and contents. If you lose your web connection, Gmail automatically switches to using this cache, allowing you to continue working – replying to messages, starring emails for later attention, applying labels – without concern for when your device will next be online. When a net connection is once again found, Gmail will automatically synchronise the local cache with its servers.

Well now we'll move on to the settings to enable it:-

    1. Login to your Gmail account

    2. Click 'Settings' and click the 'Labs' tab.

    3. Select 'Enable' next to 'Offline Gmail'.

    4. Click 'Save Changes' at the bottom.

    5. Go to 'Offline' tab. On the 'Offline Gmail' section, select 'Enable Offline Gmail for this computer'. Click 'Save Changes' at the bottom.

    6. After your browser reloads, you’ll see a new “Offline 0.1″ link in the upper right hand corner of your account, next to your username. Click this link to start the offline set up process and download Gears. Google Gears

    7. A windows will pop. Click 'Next'.

    8. Tick the box and click 'Allow'

    9. The process will start momentarily.

You are done !! Now you can access you GMail offline. You will be prompted to choose to make a shortcut to access offline GMail.
