Unable to Migrate from Eudora 6.2 to Thunderbird 3.0

Qualcomm's Eudora mail client is beginning to get flakey in Leopard -- time to bite the bullet and switch (tough when you've been using Eudora since you bought it from Steve Dorner as shareware).

How does one migrate from Eudora 6.2 (the last supported version) to Thunderbird 3.0? Is Eudora Mailbox Cleaner still viable in Leopard with Thunderbird 3.0?

Importing in Mail gets the boxes, but the contents show up blank.

I assume you refer to making the messages migrate.
Please try your rules and see if they migrated and work.

I also tried removing the message rules and causing mail.app to use the backup rules, but then they (the rules I finder-copied) still wouldn't run.

I really hate to have to re-key over 200 rules. I also raised this issue over on the MacFixit website which is believed to be read by Apple employees, however no solution has been found over there yet.

You may try out the following steps to find out the solution:

    1. Open your email client program.
    2. Locate the email account settings for your particular client.
    3. Change the POP server to pop.att.yahoo.com.
    4. Change the SMTP server to smtp.att.yahoo.com.
    5. Check the option labeled Use an encrypted connection (SSL) and change the SMTP port to 465.
    6. Check the option labeled Use an encrypted connection (SSL) and change the POP3 port to 995.
    7. Confirm the above settings then click OK.

If you are unable to migrate in the easy way then follow this step for each of your mailbox.

    1. create your email boxes in Mail that you use in Eudora
    2. go through your mailboxes in Eudora one at a time and select all and then drag them into the matching folder you created in Mail
    3. do this for each mailbox
