Have you tried r-clicking your network, selecting Properties, and uninstalling and reinstalling Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)?

    IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

1 st of all go to safe mode with n/w and try connecting to the internet from there remember to logg in as the administrator
u can also try this boot to the normal mode go to start run and type in cmd in the command prompt window type "ipconfig /all" see what is the ip address make sure it is not 0.0.0.0 or it does not start with 129.
than type"ipconfig /release" press enter and than type "ipconfig /renew" hit enter than type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter once these steps are over
go to start control panel and open internet options there delete files and clear cookies clear histroy
go to the advanced tab and uncheck the option ENABLE THIRD PARTY BROWSER EXTENSIONS
click on apply and than ok do msconfig and clear the start up
than try connecting and tell me wether that works

Sounds as though your default gateway is being changed to the NIC when it is installed. Compare the outputs from the /sbin/route command before and after inserting the NIC.You may need to delete one or add another for your dial-up.

What exactly is the contents of /etc/resolv.conf? Does it change depending on whether you have the NIC installed? WHen you say you can ping your dialup internet, is that via IP address or FQDN?
