We are almost addicted to messengers, may it be Yahoo, MSN, Google Talk or any other. As you know, there are many third-party messengers available which can be used to login any messenger services. So, what about online messenger services? With Meebo everything is possible online now. That is, you need not install any messenger program offline to chat with your friends or family.
Meebo is an Ajax site that lets you chat online with your friends that use Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, AIM, ICQ and Jabber (including Google Talk). You can log into all the IM networks simultaneously from your browser. If you don't want to create a Meebo account, you can get into one IM network at a time.
Meebo has nicely designed and user friendly interface which makes it look very similar to other desktop messengers. As long as you are on broadband you should not feel any speed difference between Meebo and other desktop messengers like Yahoo messenger or MSN. I have tested it out on 128 kbs (which is very low) broadband connection and did not expereince any lag. I did not try it on dial up but can tell you for sure that it is not a good idea.
The move is interesting for a number of reasons. First, it sheds a little more light on how developers will be using Facebook Connect, which the company hopes to use to magnify Facebook’s influence across the Internet. For now, Meebo users will be able to conduct instantaneous text chats with their Facebook friends off the social network, and to browse the status updates of all their Facebook friends.
If you don't use VOIP or video chat features from the desktop clients, if you think they use too many resources and you don't like Gaim and Trillian, Meebo is the way to go. If you are at a public PC or at a computer that doesn't have Yahoo Messenger or the other IM applications or if the firewall blocks them, Meebo can help you get in touch with your friends.
Just go to meebo.com to chat with your buddies on every major IM network in a single buddylist. Login with the IM account you already have, there’s nothing to download or install, and it’s totally free.
