Uninstall extension not compatible in firefox 3.07

    Hello;

After installation of firefox 3.07, (2 before uninstalling), firefox 3 resumed
profile of 2 and displays the extensions are not compatible. Eg RealPlayer browser record plugin 1.0. All this extension buttons are grayed out (I understand it) but including one for uninstall. So, please tell me how to uninstall (or delete) the extensions in this situation?

    thank you much.

    Hi
you go to your firefox profile, in the file extension you can find subfolders (32 characters), each either a theme or an extension.

To identify the folder corresponding to your extension ---> opens each file one after the other-> in the chrome folder is a file name extension (in general)
once identify a folder of your extension you move outside your profile (to avoid errors before you delete) in your profile also deletes the file which should extension.rdf rebuild for next launch.

Re: Uninstall extension not compatible in firefox 3.07

I edited "extensions.rdf" it is indeed inside, which allows me to
find his name to 32 characters; (ABDE892B-13A8-88E6-4d1b-365A6E755758) "I find no trace on the computer over, would it have been removed to install 3 of firefox?

I will follow your advice to turn (not delete, right turn) "extensions.rdf"
firefox and restart and I will see if it is always a list of those extensions.

If you did any checking on the disk, including hidden files and system, the extension was in Real one player directory, look in the registry. Some external plugins to write to bind the files to Firefox without adding anything in the directory of Firefox itself. Attention, editing the registry is not a trivial operation. The changes are immediately registered and, in case of error, you can crash Windows.

As this thing comes with the Real plugin, you could also try to reinstall it.

Re: Uninstall extension not compatible in firefox 3.07

Mozilla, Thunderbird and Firefox (version 0.8 or lower)

These applications currently don't have a way to automatically uninstall extensions. I have created an extension to do this for you. So you can either do it manually (see below) or download my uninstaller extension and use that.

    Uninstalling Manually

For Mozilla and Thunderbird and Firefox (version 0.8 or lower)
Extension installed in the application directory (default)

    1. Exit your browser
    2. Find the chrome directory in your browser's application directory.
On a Windows that directory may be something like,
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\chrome\
    3. Delete chrome.rdf and the overlayinfo directory -- they will be regenerated at startup
    4. Delete [extensionname].jar and/or any [extensionname] directory
    5. Remove every line with reference to the extension name from installed-chrome.txt
    6. Start your browser

Extension installed in the profile directory

If you have installed the extension in your profile directory, it's a bit harder and you can NOT follow the instructions above.

    1. Exit your browser
    2. Find the chome directory in your browser's profile directory.
On a PC with Firefox that directory may be something like,
    C:\Documents and Settings\Jeremy\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles\default\sk6kqj2s.slt\chrome\
    3. Delete [extensionname].jar and/or any [extensionname] directory
    4. Start your browser

This method for removing the extention from the profile directory may not always work. If you want to be thorough either create a new profile, or if your familiar with XML, remove each reference to the extension from any RDF file located in the overlayinfo directory.
