Cannot browse internet by URL but can browse with IP

Hi folks,
My browser is not allowing me to browse internet with URLs. But when i type ip like 74.125.19.104 in internet explorer, i can connect to google but cannot connect any url typing in address bar. Can anybody help me with this?

Sounds like spyware or malware. Download and run Ad Aware and SpyBot. Allow them to fix whatever they find. Also update your antivirus and run full system virus scan.

Looks to me as if the Domain Name Server used by your ISP is not resolving the URLs. This would explain why you are able to browse by ip address but not by URL. There are 3 different cauases as follows:

• The ISP has changed the DNS address without telling you.
• Your settings for DNS have been lost for some reason. This happened to me with a Netgear router once.
• Your ISP's DNS servers are down. A little unlikely if this has been happening for more than a few days.

Try to Reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). The following steps will show you how to repair your corrupt TCP/IP :

• Go to your command prompt window. Start =>Programs =>Accessories =>Command Prompt
• In the command line type: netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt and press enter.
• Restart the computer.
• If applies, power cycle your router and or DSL modem too.
• After restart, your computers TCP/IP stack will be restored to the state it was when originally installed on your pc.
