Re: Setting up a GMail account with Windows Mail
Before you can use your GMail account with Windows Mail, you have to make a new email account using your GMail settings. When you’ve done that, follow the instructions below:
- Go to the “Tools” menu by pressing alt + t, and press down arrow until you reach the “Accounts” menu item. Press enter to open the “Accounts” dialogue box.
- You are now in the accounts list view, so use the arrow keys to find the account you’ve just made.
- When you’ve found it, press tab until you reach the “Properties” button, and press space to open the “Properties” dialogue box for the account.
- You are now in the “General” properties page, which is the first page of properties for your account. We don’t have to change anything here, so press ctrl + tab until you reach the “Servers” page.
- Now press tab until you find the “My server requires authentication” checkbox, and press space to check it.
- Next press ctrl + tab until you reach the “Advanced” properties page.
- The first item here is an edit box for the outgoing mail server’s port number. Delete the contents of this edit box, and enter the number 465.
- Now press tab once to move to the “This server requires a secure connection” check box, and make sure that it is checked.
- Press tab once to move to the “Incoming mail” edit box. Again, delete the contents of this edit box, and enter the number 995.
- Press tab once to move to the “This server requires a secure connection” check box, and make sure that it is checked.
- Now press tab until you reach the “Ok” button, and press space to save the changes.
- You are now back in the “Internet accounts” dialogue box, so press escape to close it.
Your GMail account should now work with [1].
