Internet Explorer 7 has issues with installing on Windows XP SP3

    hi,
i have problem, i can not install IE7 on windows xp sevice pack 3. the message: IE7 could not be installed. Then there is on the desktop a shortcut to the troubleshooting page from Microsoft. This is very confusing.
    • In the Explorer
    • In the "Local Disk (C)" where Windows is installed
    • In the folder "WINDOWS"
    • -The text file ie7.log search
    • -The errors from the text read
    • -For example, an error message from the file look like:
    • 4000: IECUSTOM: Unwriteable key HKCR \ Interface \ (34A715A0-6587-11D0-924A-0020AFC7AC4D)

What makes this problem because even noticeable with the IE7 and SP3? Crashes of, or how or what? I can not understand is just, or even this workaround with regedit if something is stuck and nowhere while working / surfing, or otherwise nothing happens.

The reason for this behavior is that the system would revert back to an older version of Internet Explorer 6 that would not contain the patches applied by the Service Pack. The Windows XP Service Pack 3 updates the version of Internet Explorer installed on the system during installation of the Service Pack. The only possible way to uninstall Internet Explorer 7 that has been installed before installing Service Pack 3 is to uninstall the Service Pack first and then Internet Explorer 7. Microsoft suggests that users of IE6 should update their system with Service Pack 3 first and install IE7 afterwards. This would ensure that the browser could be uninstalled normally.

If you must uninstall IE7 after you have upgraded to XPSP3, then you have to first uninstall XPSP3, and then uninstall IE7. After this series of uninstalls, you will be reverted back to a XPSP2, and a stable version of IE6, so feel free to upgrade to XPSP3 again. If you install IE7 after you install XPSP3, then you will be able to uninstall IE7 at any point and be reverted to the newer IE6 version that ships in XPSP3. The restriction on uninstalling only applies to when you install a Windows Service Pack release on top of a standalone IE release. Keeping this in mind, you might want to uninstall IE7, upgrade to XPSP3 and then install IE7 again so you can uninstall IE7 in the future if need be.
