The ActiveX control permissions to change the security settings of your browser. With IE7, this is in Tools> Internet Options> Security tab. For the Internet, we need to put the security level to Medium. In this case, signed ActiveX controls should cause the display of an information bar asking you permission to install the control. Be careful with ActiveX controls, and dont accept the one from untrusted site. |

Hello, Good afternoon Quote:
An ActiveX control allows you to run an application in your browser. Thus, with an ActiveX control, you might be running an antivirus online directly in your browser. But you could also run a program harmful to your computer. Therefore, do not download ActiveX controls from sites to which you do not have full confidence. Quote:
It would be a site for which you are certain it will not issue a malicious file. I highlight this because you look to the user. Indeed, you could have confidence in a site and not me. On a more general, trusted sites are those whose reputation is no doubt known to all not to be malicious. For example, Microsoft makes you run an ActiveX control to a Windows Update on your PC. The ActiveX control is risky because it will update the critical files on your PC, but Microsoft is a trusted third party. The concept of trust does not mean that there will never be a problem, but you can trust them. Another example, an online antivirus requiring the installation of an ActiveX control (Symantec, Kaspersky, Bitdefender, etc.). These are also a trusted site. As against the casino "A", the dating site "B", the personal site "C" or the game site "D", you can forget, too risky. |
