| Buffer Overrun message when starting Internet Explorer
hi, i have problem while using internet explorer 7,running windows XP Home SP3 is unable to open,I get the following message:"Buffer overrun detected.Program C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Iexplore.exe A bufer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated".Running Norton AV finds nothing and I was wondering if installing the IE8Upgrade might resolve the problem.Any recommendations and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help. |

Try this to slove the problem: 1. An addon may be interfering with IE. Disable Addons. Go to Tools > Add-on Manager, and uncheck the addons. If you cannot open IE, start IE without addons. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No add-ons). 2. Reset IE settings. Go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced. Click on "Reset" button. Click OK. Close all browsers. Reboot the computer. 3. Check if a program running in the background is interfering with Internet Explorer. Temporarily disable antivirus and other security programs, firewall, toolbars such as Google and Yahoo, and desktop programs such as MSN and Google. 4. Make sure you have the latest IE and Windows updates. 5. If using Windows XP, uninstall and reinstall IE7. If you cannot find Internet Explorer 7 in Add or Remove Programs, click Start, click Run, type %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe, and then press ENTER. 6. Create a new user account in Windows. |

hi, It's very possibly an IE add-on, that is causing the problem.First you could try disabling BHO's one at a time, see if that locates the culprit. That includes any malware related add-ons BHO's and toolbars, ActiveX Objects, or etc. you need to run some scans to help eliminate a malware infection. |

It's best that the HijackThis tool NOT be located in its current location (particularly on your Desktop or in a TEMP folder). This way you can more easily undo any changes if something goes wrong.Create a new folder in your C: Drive,Name the FOLDER HijackThis (or HJT) such as C:\Program Files\HijackThis or C:\HJT and move the HijackThis.exe file into it,Run HJT from there (and revise your shortcut accordingly). |
