    Re: Windows Live Messenger installation

When you try to install one or more of the Windows Live services, the installation does not start or the installation program stops responding (hangs) and does not finish the installation. You receive an error message that states that the installation was not completed. That message generally lists an error code number.

    Re: Windows Live Messenger installation

    You should try this
    solution.
    1. Uninstalled EVERYTHING that is a part of windows live, including:
    - Windows live sign-in assistant, Windows live mail, Windows live messenger, Windows live installer, etc
    (Go to Add/Remove programs)

    2. Go to C:\Users\[Your username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft
    for example: C:\Users\Mike\AppData\Local\Microsoft
(You can paste this path into the address bar of Windows Explorer OR press Alt in My Computer, go to Tools -> Folder Options, click the "View" tab and click "Show hidden files and folders" since AppData is hidden by default)

    3. Delete ALL folders that start with "Windows Live" , including:
    - Windows Live, Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Photo Gallery, etc
(NOTE: This deletes any personal data or settings associated with these apps, including downloaded mail or messenger preferences)

    4. Re-download the installer and try installing again.

    This worked for me.
