Re: Mozilla launches Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 Private Browsing

Mozilla a renown web browser released it's new version Firefox 3.1 Beta 2, the first version to turn on a much faster JavaScript engine and support a work privacy mode.

The first beta by released few months back, the newest preview switches on TraceMonkey, the JavaScript engine Mozilla initially routed back in August. Beta 1 included the new engine, but it had been disabled by default users where the requirement is of manually editing the browser's configuration file to turn on the engine.

Beta 2 is also known to be Private Browsing, the privacy option that Mozilla decided to add , but didn't add to a test until early last month.

Private Browsing is of similar additions in other browsers, including web browser like Apple's Safari, Google's Chrome and Microsoft's Internet Explorer 8. Privacy option helps user to surf without leaving no traces of where and which site they visited, which led to the feature being applied to wrong content mode.

Private Browser is a brand new addition to the section Clear Recent History dialog box that helps users to selectively erase the last hour, the last two hours, the last four hours, today's or all browsing history; But in Previous version it used to delete the entire history contents.

Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 consists of support for web worker threads, a developing section that will let Web-based application developers run background processes to speed up their applications. One such feature provided by Mozilla in Beta 1 has disappeared in the newest version. It pulls a revamped Ctrl-Tab tab-switching feature as it was not satisfying the user tools interface. It is now absent in latest version, which was based on an existing add-on of the same name, showed users thumbnails when they cycled through open tabs, and switched between current and last-viewed tabs rather than simply moving to the next tab on the right.

Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 can be downloaded for operating systems such as Windows, Mac OS X and Linux from Mozilla's official site.

Re: Mozilla launches Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 Private Browsing

Mozilla has announced the most waited release of the second version of Firefox 3.1 beta. This version introduces the new private browsing mode featuring several noteworthy changes and differences from the previous beta 1 version.

The 3.1 version began to touch sky after the release of 3.0 earlier this year. Firefox 3.1, which is also named to be Shiretoko, includes many essential improvements and several important features that were planned during the release of 3.0 version but were not implied due to some unavoidable reasons. Mozilla released the first 3.1 alpha with some new and brilliant features, great tool Bar completion enhancements, and a brand new interactive user interface for switching between tabs. The second version known to be alpha, introduced support for the HTML 5 video element.

The most required addition in beta 2 is the new private browsing mode, which will not store any of the user's session information when user is working or user is enabled. The feature is just similar to the Incognito mode that is offered or introduced in Google's Chrome browser and Safari's Private Browsing. The feature was first requested by Firefox long back, but very tough re-engineering was required to make the feature function properly.

Private browsing mode has the facility of toggling and selecting an item on the browser's Tools menu. When the mode is activated, the browser will save the current work details done by user and close the user's current session and will now display an empty window with the private browsing launch screen. This screen also has a button that will allow users to clear their recent history. When the user disable private browsing mode, their previous session will be fully restored and the browser will not provide a record of what the user did while private browsing mode was active.

Another drastic change observed in this version release is that Mozilla's high-performance TraceMonkey JavaScript engine is now enabled by default. The new engine has been included for several releases now, but users who wanted to take advantage of it had to manually enable the feature in the Firefox configuration pane. The feature is enabled by default users could start to notice a performance boost on web sites that use processor intensive JavaScript. This web browser provides a significant improvement over Firefox 3.

Another significant user interface change that is implemented for Firefox 3.1 was a new tab switching implementation. The first alpha consist the new tab switcher displayed thumbnail previews of pages and also used to changed the behavior of the default tab switching shortcut so that it would shuffle through tabs based on the flow recent usage page lists. User interface adjustments are very promising, the developers determined more work will be needed before the graphical tab switcher can be included.

Few noteworthy minor enhancements are also available in beta 2, including support for hyperlinks in the source viewer. This is much more than a brilliant and strong beta release and thus indicates the instant development at which 3.1 is growing. Mozilla is planning one more beta release before it launches its' another new version 3.1 release candidate.
