unsure Can't Open new Office format documents

    Hello Friends

I would like to know that why some of my office colleagues are unable to Open new Office format documents [.xlsx] from the website? They either get Save or Cancel option but they do not get any Open option after downloading the document from the website. When they try to click on the link for a particular file for eg. an Excel file, a pop-up shows an icon of a zipped folder rather than an Excel icon. Can any body tell me that what exactly the problem is? Any kind of information would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

May i know that which internet browser did your colleagues prefer in the office? It may be something wrong with your internet browser.

We prefer Internet Explorer 7 in our office. But i don't think that my browser has any issue. I have seen this issue with the users running IE6 and IE7 on their system.

Try our this steps, hope so it might help you out.

    1. Open Folder Options from the Control Panel or Explorer.

    2. Select the "File Types" tab.

    3. Scroll down to the extension you wish to modify and highlight it.

    4. Click the "Advanced" button.

    5. Uncheck "Confirm open after download".

Check out whether there is a check mark against the "Always ask before opening this type of file option" dialog box. If you clear the Always ask before opening this type of file check box, the registry entry for this setting is changed and you do not see the Confirm File Open dialog box in subsequent download sessions. Try to re-enable the Always ask before opening this type of file option:

    1. Start the Registry Editor

    2. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ exefile

    3. Double-click on EditFlags, and change the value from d8 07 01 00 to d8 07 00 00

    4. Close the registry editor.

    * There is also another way, just download the registry patch on your system. Save it to your desktop, then just double-click to import the registry info in your registry.
