US vista problems on european dorm network

i bought my dell in the US a month ago. dell studio 15. running windows vista home premium.

studying abroad in central italy. depend on internet connection for communication with family back home, professors here, research projects/papers, etc...

i am able to connect to campus wifi with no problems. but the dorm wifi gives me trouble. it allows me on for a few pages. for example, able to get onto google.com, type in a search, get results, then whatever link i choose i get "network timeout" using mozilla. and "unable to connect to internet" using IE.

    or

i get on my university email website. able to log in. view inbox and new messages. then i click onto individual new message and then same alerts listed above appear.

other roommates using XP, MAC, etc... have no problems.

are there any drivers or downloads or software i could use to better interact with the dorm's router or wifi???

please help. i've tried toggling with network connection settings, etc... to no avail.

    thank you,
    riv

Well I know this not the correct answer but try using Windows XP & see if it helps!
    Just give it a try.

Whoever manages the network will need to open the ports needed by the Wii to connect. I think nintendowifi.com has a article on which ports need to be opened.
