Internet Explorer closes down as soon as I open it

Hi,
My Internet Explorer is not working.
When I click on My Internet Explorer It flashes & gets closed.
I don't know why is this happening. I have windows XP Sp2.
Can you tell me how to solve this problem.

scan and eliminate the virus. You will probably have to reinstall IE then.

I don't know about why it stopped working. If it was my system I would just count my blessings and download Firefox or something. If you're really attached to IE I'm sure someone here has a fix for you, hang in there .

Sounds like IE starts but then doesn't nab a page. DNS issue?

Question: can you do anything else online, like email? Are you able to ping out, by name (yahoo.com) or by number (your DNS according to IPCONFIG is a good test)? If you can ping by number but not name, it's a different can of worms than if you can't ping by number either. Yes, some spyware such as New.Net can screw up name resolution, but that's usually the second or third thing I'd suspect as the problem.

yes, same thing happening in my PC as well. and i just downloaded some files from other webmaster and since then my computer is not working.

i formated as well but no good result.

any best virus software can u recommend?
