    hi,
To avoid the issue, installed XP-SP3 after the IE8 beta 1 release should manually uninstall the browser.

Re: Issue With Internet Explorer 8

When Windows Internet Explorer 8 is not installed successfully, an icon is added to your desktop.
Several methods require you to browse away from the page that you are now viewing. By browsing away from this page, the content that you are now viewing will no longer be displayed. So, before you continue, you might find it helpful to create a shortcut to this Web page on your desktop so that you can easily return to this page by double-clicking the shortcut. To create a shortcut to this Web page on your desktop, follow these steps:
Right-click this page, and then click Create Shortcut.
In the Internet Explorer dialog box, click Yes to create a shortcut on your desktop.

Re: Issue With Internet Explorer 8

Try this to uninstall Internet Explorer 8:
    For Windows Vista users:
Click the Start Button, choose Control Panel, and then choose Programs.
Select View installed updates (Look under the Tasks column if you're in the Classic View).
Select Windows Internet Explorer 8 from the list of available updates. Click the Uninstall button at the top of the list.
Restart your system and you should be able to revert to the Internet Explorer 7 browser.
    For Windows XP Users:
Click "Start" button, and then click "Control Panel."
    Click "Add or Remove Programs."
Make sure there is a check next to "Show Updates" at the top of the "Add/Remove Programs" window.
Highlight the version of Internet Explorer 8 that you are running, then click "Change/Remove" to uninstall.
Restart your system and you should be reverted to the Internet Explorer 7 browser.
