If I am not wrong then there should be a function key to turn it on! Just check the manufacturer's manual to turn it on.

One of my friend had an Advent 4211 which developed wifi and ethernet connection problems within a few days of her having it. She asked me to take a look as my knowldge of networking and computers is passable, but after trying some of my tricks, I couldn't fix it and so told her to take the Advent back.
When she did that, the 'specialist' in PC-World told her the problem was down to AVG, uninstalled it and suggested she use Norton for anti-virus protection instead (now why isn't that a surprise?! )
I've been running AVG on my Advent 4211 since the day I bought it without any problems, as far as I can tell. I had the usual problem of the wireless connection being dropped and picked up again but no longer have that since I installed the WiFi update.
i would like to add that i did search this evening for the same issue and came across your thread. with mine - i do not have AVG installed, nor Nortons, which are usually the two culprits. I have to restart my laptop everytime, and with the restart it connects successfully.
When I try to view all available networks,it sometimes just does not even display the page... even disabling and re-enabling the adapter does nothing. very frustrating. not recommending thislaptop to anyone of my friends... no fun... and as someone else mentioned, the connection keeps dropping. I will stay with Dell!
