losing Internet using Messenger

Hi, yes as the title says, I lose my Internet connection every time I log on to messenger. Tried to uninstall it. It worked fine before but after I got new mail, installed Ad-Aware, Spybot and spyware blasts as the whole of it, can easily log on, but then there are a couple of minutes after I lost all my Internet connection. This does not happen if I do not log on messenger. Hope there is someone who can help me!
