Such thing usually happen if the OS is Vista. Are you using it?. If its, then go to Tools -> Options -> Advance option. There uncheck the option "check for server revocation".
Check the internet settings coz that also affect the working of Windows live messenger. For that, go to Tools -> Internet settings -> Connections -> Lan settings. Now uncheck the automatic option from there and apply manual options. Check if you are putting proper proxy server and port. The port no. is usually 8080. Find out yours.

If you had done any windows update or have installed any new firewall or any antispy software and this problem emerges. Does it give any error message when you try to install it again?

No. I haven't done any updates or run any new antispy software or firewall.
It used to give some error message previously when i was trying to reinstall, i dont remember them. Now the reinstallation itself is not working. So no point of error messages.
A lot of it depends on the proxy settings if you are using that option. I believe the problem must be in proxy settings only. However you can still try fully uninstalling and reinstalling the MSN.
running vista....windows live mail, messenger, and any other msn sites are not working...it wont even let me go to microsoft.com.....
HELP!
1 The first thing that you have to test out is your connection; make sure that the right wires are plugged in and that you are connected to the internet while signing in to your messenger.
2. Also, ensure that you have entered the right username and password. The program is case sensitive, so verify that the Caps Lock is not on.
3. If you are still unable to connect to the service, click Troubleshoot when prompted. This will take a few minutes as it will review your system and try to fix it.
4. If the problem persists, you can opt for the online help on the messenger website by following the link http://messenger.msn.com/Help/#LQ2
