Do you have a Dell system. If yes then it is a utility which allows you to turn on and off your wifi switch via function key or dedicated wi-fi button on the system. The same utility is also available for Intel systems. If this utility is eating up your system resources then you can try to find the service in msconfig and untick the service which will not launch on system start. But that might effect your wifi device.
