Windows 7 encountered an error: 0x8007054F during installing MSXML 4.0 SP2

I recently updated my current windows vista to windows 7 in my laptop. Tough my laptop supports 64 bit processor. I'm having trouble during installing anything that requires MSXML 4.0 Service pack 2. This is the error I get is 0x8007054F something like that. The GUID also varies from install to install whenever I switched to one program to another program during installation, but the error codes remains constant. I cannot able to find out the problem so please help me to solve this problem.
