    Flex/Actionscript vs. Swing/Java

Someone could help me to understand the difference between Flex/Actionscript or Swing/Java. I have just been swinging that Flex should be used in place of Struts2 .I do not see why it is better than Struts2. well I do not know much about Flex (never used ) , but from what I read on the Net , Flex seems pretty funny , you can make nice animation ... etc. Please help. Thank in advance.

Flex side , we quickly realized that the tools are mature and probably the most productive for the interface design. Flex Builder is both comprehensive , effective and simple to take control in a single tool to manage both the HMI than coding in ActionScript. With little training, is arrived at quickly develop a first application. There are still wary of that simplicity which , on sizeable projects , few lead to poorly structured coding and prove catastrophic to maintain. Also note that Flex is a technology unique client often requires the couple to technology development server (PHP, . NET , Java, ... ). These are impossible to integrate into Flex Builder, you must manipulate various development tools for a single project.

To style an application using Flex and Silverlight is also different strategies : First as regards the simple style , ie the stylized elements provided by the developer of a component, Silverlight XAML uses tags to declare styles to be used when instantiating a component (via the attribute Style ). In Flex cons , at least until version 3 , it is possible to use Flash skins made with the studio or directly written in Flash ActionScript. The solution in this case Silverlight is more affordable and more flexible since the template can be as complex as necessary. This is not just a skin. Flex bear to change the look of a component with version 4 by separating the definition of the view of the rest of the component.

Flex is by far the most mature. GWT is an excellent solution for those who do not want to depend on an editor. The compiler approach will be to upgrade seamlessly on the day the standard (HTML 5 ... ) will catch up with the platform from Adobe and Microsoft .Silverlight has potential but the paint is still very fresh.

Many features of each technology in Flex and Silverlight are not addressed in this article to focus on what can be used to differentiate or to better highlight the advantages of either. Silverlight , despite the delay in the first version was released, the catch has collat reusing CLR more advanced than the Flash PlayerBut based on the entire ecosystem. Net both in terms of language with C #, and in terms of tooling. So today Both technologies have capabilities equivalent and when a feature is not in one , the next version plans to fill the void .

In terms of development, Flex seems more affordable when we look at the code writtenBoth XML ( MXML is generally less verbose than XAML , but this is not a problem if there is trust in WYSIWYG tools from Microsoft) , that AS and C # ( for example service call or creation / parsing of XML in C # that uses an API more complex than AS).
