sad Sequencing SQL server 2008 please help

    Hi all,

In SQL Server 2008 species, can be installed in the server, the server configuration wizard - the window changes the collation and Analysis Services database engine used in the sorting collation. As the rules of this sort not only with the user's operating habits, but also to directly affect the performance of the database server system. Can any body know that how to sequencing SQL server 2008. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Usually the database administrator for the database engine, respectively, and Analysis Services are set collation. If SQL Server 2008 server, the database engine supports two sorting rules were rules and SQLServer server Windows sorting collation. By default, if the deployment in English environment SQL Servrer database server, then its use is SQLServer collation. Check and reply.

Re: Sequencing SQL server 2008 please help

If in the database on SQL server 2008, both the binary storage of data, there are other format to store data. Such as character data in the SQL Server database is divided into nchar (binary format of the data) and char (ANSI format of character data) of two. If you use a binary collation, these two different types of data used is different rules. To do this even if the two records in the table exactly the same, but the characters used in different formats, the end result may also be different. So in the face of this situation, the database administrator or trying unified character set, in order to achieve the purpose of sorting the results. Or database administrator will need to confirm to the user, whether to allow the existence of this different sort results. If allowed, then no problems with binary collation. However, if allowed, then the binary collation to give up, but need to use SQLServer and other collation. All the best.

The exist in the database deployments Analysis Services and Database Engine (database engine is necessary, but Analysis Services is optional), at the same time not allow them to sort the results inconsistencies exist. At this point the best to use Windows collations. The reason is very simple, because Analysis Services supports only Windows collation, sorting the results in order to ensure the consistency of the database engine also need to sort the results set to the Windows collation. Check and reply.

I think the biggest advantage that we can improve the implementation of operator LIKE and other performance. That is, if used in the query Like other similar words, but also used the Order BY clause sort, if the collation with SQLServer 2008, then the performance will be higher than in other sequencing rules. And the records meet the conditions the more the better effect of this sort. Therefore, in database design more and more need to use Like operator, and database administrators need to upgrade it when database performance, you need to consider whether to adopt this SQLServer collation. All the best.

The collation with SQLServer, there are many flaws. The biggest flaw is the collation of the database and operating system or other applications of the sort the results inconsistent. If now the database is SQLServer use the collation of a table of a particular sort. Then this table is guided into the Excel table, and by the same rules to its re-sort. At this point two table records the display order may be different. This is the main largely due to the different regional settings caused. All the best.
