Comparison between SYSDBA and SYSOPER

Hi guys !
I am a new guy for oracle database and I need some help to all. What is the procedure to connect with database through SQL*plus.Due to installation I got two user which require some password to enter. I had given an appropriate password to both users but I am not getting.What are the existence of both user.I will wait for your reply..Thanks

The SYSDBA and SYSOPER:

The SYSDBA and SYSOPER both are the users of database. These both user are performing the task of handling the database. During the installation of oracle, I ask to you for password for both user Otherwise you can't continue ahead. Both user belongs to the category of high level users and has different privileges to handle the database activities.

Role and functioning of SYSDBA :

The SYSDBA user is created when oracle is being installed. It has higher privilege to manage the database.The user of this account can perform all the administrative task.The whole utilities to control the database like tables and views and different data dictionaries are stored in the SYS schema.

This user can perform so many task to manage the database like :
1. Designing of the database
2. Creation of database
3. Implementation of database
4. Performing Backup of database
5. Performing Recovery Operation
6. Tuning the transaction of database and etc.

Role of SYSOPER in database :

This account is allowed to perform all the administrative task for database but some operation and privilege that is not assigned to this account.This account can perform all administrative task except some mentioned here -

1. This schema can't perform backup
2 It is not allowed to perform recovery operation
3. It is not allowed to upgrade the database.

NOTE: In both accounts,you can't change the contents of data dictionary.You have unlimited privilege on data dictionary when you would be connected as a sysdba user but can't modify anything in data dictionary.

Connecting to database using SQL*plus:

You can use SQL*Plus tool to connect with oracle database after using SQL language.

If you are working as a normal user and need to connect with the database,then you can access only default database that has created during installation of oracle database.If you are working in windows environment and need to connect with database then you should have a user name and password of a normal user of database.

Follow the instructions to connect with database :
1. Go to the Start menu and click
2. Move to program menu, and select Oracle.
3. Choose Ora92 and a list would be appeared from Ora92 directory.
4. Click on Application development and choose SQL*plus
5. Enter the User name and password and access whatever you want from database depends on your privileges.

Who told you that sysdba is a user? sysdba and sysoper are system privilege
