Real application cluster in oracle database

The RAC(Oracle Real Application Clusters) is a product that is build by oracle corporation and introduced in 2001.It facilitates to the oracle user for clustering and high availability in database environment.

Oracle RAC facilitates to run more than one machines to execute a Oracle RDBMS software simultaneously to access only single database.Means more than one computer can run one instance and when one of them failed to run then another can take the responsibility to continue the database operation.

A single database instance is divided on different computer is called clustering of database.

    Implementation of Real application cluster

The guidelines of implementation of RAC:

The oracle real application cluster can't be designed for a single database on single computer,It is designed and developed for a organization or group of network user that are using oracle database.

The RAC is structured and designed from starting to final stage by a group of experts, the man powers are listed who played an important role :

    • Executive
    • IT manager
    • Project manager
    • Database administrator
    • Network administrator

    Defining Service-Level Requirements for RAC

    The service level requirement :

The service-level requirements can be divide into two sections
    1. service-level requirements
    2. operational requirements
Following specification will identify you about the service-level requirements
    • The availability of database and performance should not be down.
    • Tricks and methods for handling delays and failures

And the following specification will indicate you about operational requirements
    • Maintaining the baseline of RAC instance performance
    • Backup and related operations should be performed “online"
    • Required procedures to shutting and starting up of the system
    • Ready to face the disasters
