    XML vs HTML

Hello, recently I have learned about the HTML language and now I am thinking to learn the XML language. Is anyone know the difference between both of this language? If yes then please reply me about it. I want to know it in advance so that it will be helpful to me while learning the language. If you know the good books for xml then tell me that.

    Hello,
    • HTML is the web language. Development of xML is not done for replacing HTML.
    • Both of these languages are designed for different purposes.
    • You can make use of the XML for describing data and by using of that you can focus on that particular data.
    • If you are using HTML then you will basically show the data and keep eye on the working of that data.
    • HTML is used to show the content where as XML explains the content.

I think you need to just look at the features of both of this language and you will able to get the difference in them.
    XML:
    • XML stands for Extensible Markup Language.
    • It is Markup language quiet similar to HTML.
    • It is developed to carry data.
    • In this language tags are not defined already.
    • It is a own descriptive.

    HTML:
    • HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language.
    • It is used to add headings, text, tables, lists, photos in web doucument.
    • You can able to get the online information via hypertext links.
    • You can crate different forms for getting different process.

    Re: XML vs HTML

As you know the XML stands for the Extensible Markup Language which is known as a general purpose language. You can make use of this language for creating different applications. You can share your data between different information system. If you are using information on internet then it will be more useful to you. Most of these languages are used for web designing. If you are talking about the HTML then it stand for the Hyper Text Markup Language and it is old and simple language for creating web content. But, you can create only static data from this language. But, it can support your dynamic scripts.

    Re: XML vs HTML

    • HTML is used to be as a presentaton language but if you consider the XML then you come to know that it is not a Programming language and it is also not a presentation language. You can make use of the XML for moving data between the application and database.
    • XML is a case-sensitive language and as we all know HTML is not a case-sensitive language.
    • You can use your own defined tags in your html but you cant perform it in xml.
    • If you are having some syntactical problem then HTML can ignore it, but XML wont allow it.
    • For explaining your data you can make use of the XML but if you want to define your data then you must need to make use of the HTML.

For getting reference in XML you must need to use the books below:
    • XML Complete by Steven Holzner
    • Presenting XML by Richard Light
    • XML: Extensible Markup Language by Elliotte Rusty Harold
    • XML: Principles, Tools, and Techniques by Dan Connolly
