Creating dynamic pages with asp to redirect

Hi. Well I am planning to develop a website for my friend. He has a travel agency company and needs a site to be designed for publicity. I have the knowledge of HTML(static page) but less of ASP(dynamic page). Please suggest me where could I write Asp codes and how to execute them. Somone told me that Asp requires IIS. What is it? Is there any software which can be used for developing a site using ASP? Please suggest. Thank you.

Hello. Well you are creating ASP page for the dynamic content. As you do not have much knowledge of ASP I would suggest you to please have the knowledge or atleast learn the concepts of ASP. It would help you in creating the content much more easily. You can get ebook for asp from bestebooksworld.com Go through it for reference. Asp codes are written in notepad and to be saved by the extension .asp

Well to execute ASP pages you first need to install IIS as you have heard it correct. IIS(Internet information serivce) is used to create virtual directory in the sense for execution, creation and storage of dynamic files. This can be done by following the steps as follows:

    1) You need to insert the Windows Xp utility disc into the drive.
    2) Go to control panel from the start menu.
    3) GO to Add/Remove components.
    4) Select the checkbox of the option IIS and activate it.
    5) Click on install. It will automatically start the installation of IIS from the Windows utility disc.
    6) After installation you will find in the administrative tools option IIS icon.
    7) Open it by double clicking on it.
    8) On the left hand side of the bar you will find sites option. Click on it.
    9) After that go to default site, right click on it. Go to properties and create the virtual directory by specifying the paths and select all the execution process at last when asked.

This will make your IIS to function and asp pages to execute.

HI. Well you might have got to know about the process for using asp but to tell you there is even more convenient way to develop the site. A software tool with inbuilt templates and codes embedded in it may help you out in making the site very easily without even having to face much problem. DREAMWEAVER 8.0 is a better option or an application tool for creating such pages. You need to keep in mind that IIS has to be installed in order to execute the process or for redirecting. For coding you need to refer the ebook or any reference for basic concepts. Good luck.
