Unable to connect to the Wireless network with correct password

I want to connect to a password-secured wireless network. I can connect to unsecured networks no problem. I couldn't figure out how to connect a password protected network after boot. Now the firewall is password protected and we can not release it from that mode. I know the password, but I don't know where to write.

According to man page of iwconfig, the "key" could be either a number in hexadecimal or a string. Reset your router using the reset button. Then enter the settings of router and create your new password. Then only you can access the router to make changes in passwords and such. How do I know my keyword is a number or a string if it contains only numerical characters? Also, do I have to convert the key into hexadecimal if it's a number?

It looks like you are using WPA encryption which iwconfig can only handle WEP keys. WPA requires wpa_supplicant. I do not know how to deal with wireless and now it does not connect like it did before automatically. What desktop are you running? Do you have network manager installed? It is a GUI wireless configuration tool.

Re: Unable to connect to the Wireless network with correct password

In some routers you have the option of using a passphrase, which generates several keys that can be used by the router. Hold the reset switch for about 10 to 15 second it should reset it to default. I assume that the algorithm to generate the hex keys from the text passphrase is the same in the router and on the computer, allowing them to generate the same hex keys from a regular word or nonstandard length password.
