Re: PLC controlling a punch press Punch presses normally used with stamping, punching, bending, shearing, converting, and assembly operations. They changes in terms of drive type and automation.Important specifications for punch presses are the operating force, rated capacity, production rate, and sheet capacity. Operating force is the maximum load needed to cut or form parts during assembly. Rated capacity is the tons of pressure that the slide or ram exerts at the bottom of the stroke while working within the range of the press. |

Re: PLC controlling a punch press I guess you are talking about a circuit which requires an operator to have both hands on start switches in order to start a machine cycle. This reduces the possibility of an operator having a hand in the work area when a machine cycle is begun. If one or both switches are "tied-down", the control will not let you a new machine cycle to start with. |

Re: PLC controlling a punch press Troubles with safety are not permitted to be done VIA PLC or control. Emergency stops, Anti Tiedowns and safety Lock-outs just to name a few. Although they can be duplicated in the PLC for status. It is not possible with PLC would a cycle start until the light curtain was clear AND the two hand PB module gave its signal. On a few machines that need a manual clamp up, they would use one of the two hand PBs as the clamp signal. |
