How to Update the global address list

How do I update the global address list, The first one is a PDC running Windows 2003 Server. The second one is running Windows 2003 Server with Exchange 2003. I have a problem when I try to create a new Domain User on our Exchange Server 2003 it does not include exchange email address, so i will create it manually on the specific user.

The Global Address List (GAL) also known as Microsoft Exchange Global Address Book is a directory service within the Microsoft Exchange email system. The global address list (GAL) is a directory that contains entries for every group, being aware of subtle difference in Microsoft names, and contact within an organization's implementation of Microsoft Exchange. If you want to force the reload you can by opening System Manager. Expand Recipients, click on Offline Address List. Right click on Default Offline Address List in the right pane. Click Rebuild.

Go to Outlook, Click Tools --> Send/Receive --> Download Address Book. Then place a check in Download Changes since last Send/Receive. Exchange 2003 server automatically adds every new mail recipient to the Global Address List, An Organizations AL represents the same set of mail-enabled objects as the organization's GAL, but is designated to provide the address book service in cached mode. For the user to appear under the GAL , what you can do , after you create a mailbox for that user, go to ESM and update the Recipient Update Service.

The rebuild process can take up to 5-10 minutes to complete depending on the organization size. For our typical clients it takes less than a Minute. Exchange 2003's mail objects is a case in point. Pay careful attention to the difference between a mailbox enabled user and a mail-enabled user. After the rebuild is completed, it could take up to 4 hours for the new OAB to be propagated to all servers and be available for Outlook 2007 clients.
