Need some help on TFS 2008 Recently I have created a Server 2008 VPC with SQL Sever 2008 and TFS 2008. In my place no one is familiar about the TFS. I am mainly working on Visual Studio 2008. Here I had install the service and everything appears to work great. Now I want to see the central administration and I am quiet use to SharePoint. I need some advice here like how to access TFS source control from Explorer.exe. Then anyhow I got some sources and found the TFS version control security dialog empty. Why this happen so. Then I have a task to create a set of reports based on data from the TFS Source control. I think that the report must be created by the reporting service technology. Any suggestion really appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Need some help on TFS 2008 I will advice you to concentrate on Visual Studio as a client to TFS if you are going to start with just the source control panel. Then you need TFS Explorer to view the information. It is an addin for Visual Studio. You will have to log on to msdn microsoft website and collect more resources in detail. It will not only provide with the explanation but also and entire steps to work with TFS. |

Re: Need some help on TFS 2008 You will need Tortois SVN tool to view the TFS source control from Explorer.exe. It is an awesome tools which offers you to control subversion source control from the windows explorer. Just right click on a file or folder and then multiple options are available for your use. It is a freeware tool and available on the official site for a free download. |

Re: Need some help on TFS 2008 The issue behind you empty security version box is due to compatibility issue in .net. If you have sp1 for .net .35 on a server with out installing sp1 for TFS 2008 then you will not able to view permission in the version control. Do not worry you data is not lost. The reason of this problem is that the code in asp.net that serialize the permission data on the server does not function properly. You have two choice here. Either uninstall sp1 for .net 3.5 or install sp1 for tfs 2008. |
