    .NET framework on Macintosh

I wish to know if applications developed on Windows OS using .NET Framework can be made to run on the Macintosh PCs. We are developing an application using .NET Windows Forms. The guys who would test this application must have have Mac PCs. Can they somehow run this application?

    Re: .NET framework on Macintosh

Microsoft has positioned .NET as a competitor to J2EE. If .NET is to compete head-to-head, it wouldn’t hurt if it ran on popular server platforms. Plus, Java 2 has already found its way into the Mac OS X space, so there is plenty of incentive for Microsoft to try to gain a foothold there.

Server platforms aside, .NET could be the foundation for future end-user Windows applications using the Windows Forms API. Microsoft remains committed to supporting Mac OS X with their current line of products, and I see no indication that they are planning to abandon it in the future.

There is no framework for the Mac. Sorry. I really wish there was though, it would really help us .Net developers. If you truly need write once, run everywhere, you are limited to Java. Got to pick the right tool for the job on this one, and Java is that tool.

There are people trying to work on porting the .Net framework to other systems though besides windows....mainly linux though.

You can use boot camp to install both Windows and Mac, then install the .Net framework onto the Windows side. Also downloading Windows XP using torrents, or any other similar method is illegal and against the rules here.
