    Refresh Java Applet

Whenever I make changes to the Java applet I am making, I try to update the applet by refreshing the firefox. But it wont update any changes to the Java applet. Is there any compatibility problem with firefox and java applet? How can I fix this?

It does seem like a bug. I think that it might have been looking for one of the openjdk packages... but I have no idea. I'm also hoping that removing those doesn't mess up anything else; I guess you'll have to wait and see.

Try clicking on the titlebar. That helps sometimes. I notice I get something like that whenever the java runtime enviroment gets loaded and it seems to take focus away from the window that should have it.

There may be more than one causes for this. Applets can't use file I/O due to security reasons. To access files on the server you need to go a somewhat more complicated route.

I suspect that /etc/alternatives has something to do with why Firefox cannot load the applet, and I can't find a way to specify a path to java in Firefox's about:config, whereas in Opera I can specify a direct path to java, bypassing /etc/alternatives.

In FireFox you cannot do that. Each time you do some changes into the Applet you have to close the FF page and reopen. Or else try to clear the cache(Ctrl + F5) and have a try.

The solution was simple. You can run an applet on the Applet Viewer as well, without use of FF.

    Try this
    java-controlpanel-temporary internet files-settings

    choose diskspace maximum
set amount to 0MB and jarcompression to none
